Trying to overcome both teen years and a life altering circumstance at the same time, and searching for happiness, acceptance and somewhere to belong, pretty much encapsulates Kimberly Akimbo. A balanced blend of Comedy and Drama.
Initially Kimberly first presented on broadway November 10, 2022. “Kimberly” giving an association of strength and royalty, and “Akimbo” a demeanor of classic hand on hip pose, visualizes the challenge Kimberly is facing, and the strength she is building.

Kimberly is a Teenager trapped in a 72-year-old elderly lady, and a teen that has decided to live every day as if its the last. Following asking a friend about his newborn niece and, And receiving the answer “she’s amazing—she’s like this little old woman trapped in a baby’s body”, David Lindsay-Abaire thought of "Kimberly Akimbo" for the first time.
Kimberly Akimbo is a show that opened Off-Broadway at the Manhattan Theatre Club NYC on February 4, 2003. Starred by Victoria Clark, and Directed by Jessica Stone, well known for his ablity for bonding humor and cruel reality.
The story took place in 1999 in suburban New Jersey, a teenager called Kimberly was born with a disorder that made her 4.5x more than she actually is. Struggling with a terrifying reality to experience mortality and adolescence simulataniously.
Unlike the rare clinical condition, she is struggling with, Kimberly is rarely the center of attention in her life, in fact, you will see her unselfishly consumed by her family’s irresponsibility, which puts her in various emotional pressures including psychological strain, financial troubles, isolation, and the need for belongingness. Despite this, Kimberly demonstrates great resilience, empathy, determination, courage, and managing to keep her high spirits.
Widely recognized for provoking big questions about death, self, and family.
The show has the power to pull out the social outcast in everyone, the misfit we all felt at some time and the building blocks that created what we are today.
