Back To The Future – Theatrical Production at Sarofim Hall

Going back in time to the 20th century, precisely in the 50s and 80s, Back To The Future The Musical features the same narrative from the previous 80s film and was also conceptualized from scratch by the previous picture's creators, Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale. The high-activity and visually stunning show tells the tale of Marty McFly, a fearless boy who is sent back in time.

The story begins as Marty McFly lives a typical routine in a young adult's life, enjoying his hobbies (mainly in his school band) and spending time with his girlfriend, Jennifer, while continuously being rather inquisitive of everything he encounters. His curiosity ends up as Marty's very own burden, as upon making contact with Doc Brown on a fateful day, the doctor explains that his genius has enabled him to make the transtemporal device (which in truth, is the DeLorean) operate. An unexpected event that takes place on that day causes Marty to drive the DeLorean, startling Marty and transporting him back in time to 1955. At first disoriented with the town and people he doesn't know, Marty McFly in time figures out that to correct his accident and secure his future, he must also drive events in 1955, and the family and friends who don't know him, back to what actually happened.

Founded on elements from the movie with the same title, each set design of Back To The Future acts as a callback to the sets from the original film, encompassing Hill Valley High School, Doc’s lab, the McFly’s house, and numerous sets in the Hill Valley neighborhood. Both the set and outfit design also accurately depict the two different time periods. Back To The Future’s move to the theater stage gave another avenue for audiences to see one of the favorite franchises that has been produced, while applying tweaks and innovations only achievable on a theater stage.

Though Back To The Future The Musical brings its audiences on a nostalgic trip back to 1955 and 1985 respectively, the theater for this play is as modern as it can be.
