Funny Girl at Sarofim Hall

Fanny Brice's journey from being a tender, forgettable, stage-shy young teen to becoming a national star is shown in the production, Funny Girl. It is based on the happenings in her life that occurred just before, during, and after World War I. Her narrative happens in her early years in the Lower East Side of New York City, where the young teenager clowns her way through burlesque and vaudeville while hoping to make it large despite being disparaged by her family and friends who say she is not pretty enough to be a star on stage. It also tells the story of her relations with Nick Arnstein, a charming local whose allure Fanny finds irresistible, as well as the eventual failure of their marriage.
