When director Michael Arden decided to revive Alfred Uhry’s ‘Parade’ on Broadway in 2023, he was onto something.
‘Parade’ left a colossal imprint on all theatregoers - supporters, professionals, critics, and laymen alike, and with its harrowing tale of faith, humanity, devotion, and love in a world of discord, false information, and inequality, it drove a crucial message home. With heartfelt performances by a world-renowned cast, striking visuals, Jason Robert Brown’s breathtaking score, ‘Parade’ racked up no less than two Tony Awards for Best Book of a Musical and Best Original Score, six Drama Desk Awards, and a New York Drama Critics’ Circle Award for Best Musical.
‘Parade’ is an account of the true events concerning the 1913 trial, conviction and eventual murder of Jewish-American factory worker Leo Frank for the murder of a 13-year old girl, as a result of a flawed trial, media sensationalism and misinformation. With a flawed trial and media coverage fuelled by antisemitism and a rather violent outcome, ‘Parade’ rings as true now as it did a century ago when Leo Frank was captured. Even though ‘Parade’s tale is layered, boasts emotional performances, and is poignant, is it also gloriously hopeful, gorgeous, and filled with breathtaking moments.
‘Parade’ is a wonderful musical that will move you like you’ve never been moved before, the music is ingeniously composed, arranged, and delivered with great skill and passion, the production is visually striking, and the tale is heartwrenching and heartwarming at the same time - one of the biggest must-sees in theatres today.
And now, nearly thirty years after its Broadway premiere and two years after its highly successful revival, the parade is finally marching down to the Sarofim Hall - just around the corner from you! It’s not every day that a production with such a great success takes a local stage, so you should grab this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity with both hands!
If it’s superb acoustics, top-shelf sound and lighting, fantastic amenities, and comfortable seating with crystal-clear sight-lines you’re after, the Sarofim Hall is your go-to. All-in-all, an exceptional theatrical experience is on the cards!
Make sure to get your hands on those premier seats now, and experience ‘Parade’ for yourself - it will stick with you long after the curtains have fallen and the theatre lights have dimmed.
