“A joyous, blissful Broadway event!” – Broadway Shows
SYNOPSIS
When the charismatic, charming, and fast-talking Professor Harold Hill arrives in Iowa in 1912 with a tried-and-tested endeavour to sell musical instruments and uniforms for boys marching bands to unsuspecting boys and their families, he quickly comes up with an idea to fast-track his planned scheme: to convince the families that the town’s new pool table spells nothing but trouble for the youngsters, and that a boys’ marching band is the answer.
Of course, being a master con man, Professor Harold Hill plans to quickly cash in and then skip town before anyone realizes that, in fact, he doesn’t know anything about music. However, the town’s librarian and music teacher Marian Paroo doesn’t believe a word he says. Harold Hill then finds himself spending extra time with Marian’s younger brother out of pure and genuine affection, helping him overcome his lisp and shyness – and eventually, falling in love with Marian.
The question remains – how will the townsfolk react when they find out the truth about the music man who isn’t a music man after all?
The Music Man is a healthy serving of pure nostalgic Americana, topped with wonderful, memorable music at its very core – and you have one exceptional, unforgettable evening at the theatre lined up!
