Sarofim Hall tina musical

Tina Turner was known as the “Queen of Rock and Roll.” She was a powerful artist, a legendary performer, and someone who never gave up on her aspirations. Tina’s life story and music influenced so many people all across the world, and her legacy carries on in so many lovely ways today. This musical is a celebration of her incredible life, exceptional talent, and infectious joy.

“It’s really important to me to have the chance to share my full story. This musical is not about my stardom. It is about the journey I took to get there. Each night I want audiences to take away from the theatre that you can turn poison into medicine,” Tina Turner said about the musical. Turner was heavily involved in the creation and global spread of the “Tina” musical before her death in May. Her legend will live on thanks to her recordings and this presentation.

The show begins with a cryptic chant, which is subsequently revealed to be Turner’s anxiety-relieving Buddhist mantra – one of which she carried out for decades. The book also effectively combines songs Turner made in the ’80s and ’90s — such as 1984’s “Private Dancer” and renditions of Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together” and The Trammp’s “Disco Inferno” — to reflect far earlier eras in her life. All fans of the late rock n’ roll star need not be concerned that they will miss any of her most famous songs; they are all included, and more.

“The music is fantastic, the staging is deluxe, the central figure is a cultural icon and the lead performer is sensational.” – Variety

“But let’s be real: You come to “Tina” for the songs. And all of them – including “I Can’t Stand the Rain,” “Private Dancer” and “We Don’t Need Another Hero” – sound glorious.” – New York Post

“With sheer out-of-your-seat excitement blows away any Broadway challenger.” – Deadline

With music by the legendary Tina Turner (of course), a book by Katori Hall, Frank Ketelaar, and Kees Prins, and a direction by Phyllida Lloyd (Mamma Mia, The Iron Lady), Tina has everything you need to make your feet stomp and your pulse race. Additionally, the creative team features choreography by Anthony Van Laast; set and costume design by Mark Thompson; music supervision and arrangements by Nicholas Skilbeck; lighting design by Bruno Poet; sound design by Nevin Steinberg; and projection design by Jeff Sugg.

The touring cast includes Ari Groover and Parris Lewis as Tina Turner; Wildlin Pierrevil as Ike Turner; Wydetta Carter as Gran Georgeanna; Roz White as Zelma Bullock; Sarah Bockel as Rhonda; Daelyanna Kelly Benson as Young Alline/Young Craig; Antonio Beverly as Ronnie and Ike understudy.

The same could be said of “Tina: The Tina Turner Musical,” the touring Broadway show.”
