“Beautifully sung, profoundly emotional, and strangely amusing. Sondheim’s masterpiece, restored to its rightful proportions, welcomes a long-awaited comeback to Broadway.” - The New York Times.

Observe the pleasantly deranged partnership among the vengeful Sweeney Todd and the animated shopkeeper Mrs. Lovett. Set in the depths of a ominous London, this theatrical thriller presents a amusing yet darkly Victorian story of family, homicide, class disparity, and dubious little pastry shops.

Guided by the director of Hamilton, Thomas Kail, this musical revival welcomes back Hugh Wheeler’s acclaimed with the Tony Award script and renowned composer Stephen Sondheim’s early composition. It also includes the Olivier-winning choreography by Steven Hoggett and other creative talents, like Mimi Lien (Scenes), Emilio Sosa (Costumes), Natasha Katz (Lighting), Nevin Steinberg (Sound), J. Jared Janas (Wig, Hair & Makeup), and Jeremy Chernick (Special effects).

Thanks to the astounding 26-piece orchestration by Jonathan Tunick and musical supervision by Alex Lacamoire, viewers can revel in novel yet faithful interpretations of Sondheim’s famous hits such as “A Little Priest,” “Pirelli’s Miracle Elixir” and “The Worst Pies in London.”

During a previous interview with principal performer Josh Groban, he recalls his journey playing the role of the title barber.

“… for me what intrigued me the most about Sweeney Todd was the oppositions: the beautiful score combined with the sinisterly humorous content, the gloomy storyline. There’s such a juxtaposition of elegance and grimness in the role, combined with many of the most remarkable songs and poetry ever written. It genuinely is nothing less than a masterpiece to perform, regardless of the type.”

Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street is one of Broadway’s most remarkable accomplishments in the history of musicals, consistently acclaimed across its different incarnations by the Tony, Drama Desk, Olivier, Drama League, and Outer Critics Circle award-giving bodies.
